Smart Infrastructure Technology Program

Program Objectives

The Smart Infrastructure Technology Program aims to educate qualified technical professionals equipped with the knowledge and practical skills required to meet the demands of modern, digitally transformed infrastructure systems. The program focuses on the effective application of digital technologies in the planning, management, and integration of critical infrastructure systems, including transportation, energy, water, and communication networks.

Within this framework, students are trained to become technical specialists who are proficient in measurement, monitoring, and automation technologies; capable of contributing to data-driven decision-making processes; and able to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly infrastructure solutions within the scope of smart city applications.

The curriculum adopts an interdisciplinary approach, enabling students to apply software solutions, digital modeling techniques, and intelligent control systems to infrastructure projects. Graduates are expected to uphold professional ethics, demonstrate awareness of occupational health and safety, and embrace lifelong learning in response to rapidly evolving technologies.

Furthermore, the program has been designed in line with regional development strategies, digital transformation initiatives, and sustainable urban management policies. It also supports the strategic objectives of Bartın University while contributing directly to Türkiye’s Smart Cities Vision.

Program Duration

The Smart Infrastructure Technology Program is a two-year associate degree program consisting of four semesters. Students may also choose to attend an optional English Preparatory Program before beginning their academic studies.
To graduate, students are required to successfully complete 90 ECTS credits of theoretical and practical coursework together with 30 ECTS credits of workplace training, earning a total of 120 ECTS credits.

As investments in digital transformation and smart city projects continue to grow, the demand for qualified technical professionals in this field is increasing rapidly.
Graduates may pursue careers in both the public and private sectors, including:
  • Municipalities and Provincial Special Administrations, particularly in infrastructure, zoning, public works, and transportation departments
  • The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and its affiliated institutions
  • Major public infrastructure organizations such as the General Directorate of Highways (KGM), the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), and the Turkish State Railways (TCDD)
  • Energy distribution companies and water and wastewater management organizations
  • Private companies operating in construction, engineering, and infrastructure technologies
  • Information technology and software companies specializing in infrastructure projects, particularly those focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and automation systems
  • Companies providing Geomatics Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Remote Sensing solutions
  • Technology companies developing smart building, smart campus, and smart city automation systems

Vertical Transfer Opportunities

Graduates who successfully complete the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by ÖSYM are eligible to continue their education in selected bachelor's degree programs.
They may transfer to the following undergraduate programs:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Energy Systems Engineering
  • City and Regional Planning
Completing one of these bachelor's degree programs enables graduates to further specialize in advanced infrastructure technologies and expand their professional opportunities in engineering, urban planning, and sustainable infrastructure management.
